Zunzibar Opens Monday as Middleton’s Next Wave of Restaurants Takes Shape

Middleton restaurants continue to expand as several new businesses move closer to opening. A year ago, much of Middleton’s commercial district existed only on site plans and construction drawings. Today, the area is rapidly transforming into a destination for dining, shopping, and everyday conveniences.

During a visit to Middleton this weekend, we found visible progress across several projects that are reshaping the area’s growing commercial district. From Zunzibar’s scheduled Monday opening to continued work on Haru Sushi & Hibachi, Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza, Jersey Mike’s, and Publix, activity was evident throughout the area.

New Middleton Restaurants Continue Moving Toward Opening

The most immediate addition is Zunzibar Seafood + Surf Bar, which is scheduled to open Monday.

When we stopped by, staff members were actively training inside the restaurant as final preparations continued ahead of opening day.

The interior features a bright coastal-inspired design with booths, woven lighting fixtures, natural wood finishes, and an open layout that stands apart from many existing restaurants in the area.

One of the restaurant’s most noticeable features is its waterfront patio overlooking the water. The outdoor seating area appeared ready for guests during our visit.

No menu was available during our visit, but the restaurant appeared to be in the final stages of preparation.

Haru Sushi & Hibachi Appears Nearly Ready

Another project showing significant progress is Haru Sushi & Hibachi.

Exterior signage is now installed, and the restaurant appears substantially complete from the outside.

The outdoor patio area is also furnished and appeared nearly ready for guests when we visited.

While no opening date has been announced, Haru appears much closer to welcoming customers than it did several months ago.

Piesanos Moves Into Its Final Construction Phase

Construction also continues on Piesanos Stone Fired Pizza.

During our visit, exterior branding had been installed, promotional materials were displayed, and crews appeared to be actively working inside the building.

Like Haru, the project appears to be moving into its later stages of construction.

Jersey Mike’s Continues Taking Shape

Jersey Mike’s is another future addition showing visible signs of progress.

Exterior branding has been installed, and work continues at the site as construction moves forward.

The addition of Jersey Mike’s would add another quick-service option to the growing mix of restaurants in Middleton.

Publix Remains One of the Largest Projects Underway

Perhaps the largest project currently under construction is the future Publix grocery store.

The scale of the building is becoming increasingly apparent as structural work continues.

While the project still appears to have considerable work remaining, it represents another major piece of Middleton’s ongoing commercial development.

Middleton’s Commercial District Continues to Expand

What stood out most during our visit was not any single project, but the number of businesses moving toward completion at the same time.

Recent openings such as 24 Middleton, Portillo’s, 4 Rivers Smokehouse, Lucky Goat Coffee, and Victory Family Sports Grill have already added to Middleton’s growing collection of dining and gathering places.

Based on what we saw this weekend, several additional restaurants and retailers appear to be moving closer to opening.

With Zunzibar opening Monday and visible progress continuing at Haru, Piesanos, Jersey Mike’s, and Publix, Middleton’s business district continues to evolve from a construction zone into a more fully developed destination for residents and visitors.
