When most people think about Chop House in The Villages, they probably picture premium steaks and special occasion dinners. After spending a Sunday afternoon there, we found another side of the restaurant worth noting: Chop House Sunday Brunch offers a wider menu than many weekend brunch spots in the area.
We stopped in around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday with friends and sat at the bar. Stephanie took care of us, and her friendly personality, menu guidance, and steady attention helped make the meal feel relaxed from the start.
One thing that stood out right away was the flexibility. During weekend brunch, guests can order from the brunch, lunch, and much of the dinner menu, which gives the table a lot of room to mix and match.
What to Expect
- Atmosphere: Upscale steakhouse setting with a relaxed weekend brunch feel.
- Pace: Comfortable and unhurried, especially if you are settling in for a longer meal.
- Typical Crowd: Couples, friends, and small groups looking for brunch, lunch, or a steakhouse meal.
- Good to Know: Weekend brunch guests can order from the brunch, lunch, and much of the dinner menu.
Chop House Sunday Brunch Offers More Than a Traditional Brunch Menu
Many restaurants offer a limited brunch menu on weekends. Chop House takes a different approach.
Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., guests can choose from brunch dishes while still having access to much of the regular lunch and dinner menu.
Brunch selections include:
- Steak & Eggs Duo
- Steak & Crab Single Bene
- Brisket Bowl
- Chicken & Waffle
- Lobster & Swiss Omelette
- Bacon & Cheese Omelette
- Vegetable Omelette
If one person at the table wants eggs and another is more interested in a filet, the menu makes that easy.
Bacon & Cheese Omelette
One member of our group ordered the Bacon & Cheese Omelette, served with creamy spinach and fresh salsa.
The omelette was generously filled, cooked well, and larger than expected. The creamy spinach was a strong side dish and one of the items that stood out during the meal.
Steak & Crab Single Bene
The Steak & Crab Single Bene was one of the more distinctive dishes we tried.
It combines filet, a crab cake, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce into a rich brunch entrée that feels more substantial than a traditional eggs Benedict.
If you are looking for something outside the usual brunch lane, this is one of the dishes that gives the menu some range.
Brisket Bowl
The Brisket Bowl was another favorite at the table.
Roasted potatoes, smoked brisket, cheddar cheese, bacon, avocado, and a fried egg made it a hearty brunch option without feeling too heavy.
Filet Mignon Done Right
Even though we visited during brunch, we wanted to try one of Chop House’s steaks.
The filet mignon arrived cooked exactly as ordered, with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach on the side. It was a good reminder that, even during brunch hours, Chop House is still very much a steakhouse.
Save Room for a Cocktail
The brunch cocktail menu includes mimosas, Bloody Marys, sangrias, and several espresso martinis.
We ordered the Chocolate Espresso Martini. It was rich without being overly sweet and worked well as a finish to the meal.
Menus for Different Kinds of Visits
One thing we appreciated was the flexibility. Whether you are stopping in for brunch, lunch, or dinner, Chop House has a broad selection of appetizers, sandwiches, seafood, steaks, pasta, and cocktails.
That makes it the kind of place where repeat visits could feel fairly different depending on when you go and what you order.
Service That Stood Out
Food is only part of what shapes a restaurant visit.
Stephanie, who took care of us at the bar, deserves mention. She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with throughout the afternoon. The service made the meal feel personal without being overdone.
Our Take
Based on this visit, the combination of attentive service, well-prepared food, and the flexibility of the brunch menu made for a very enjoyable afternoon.
